Motorcycle gloves overview

Sports gloves, motorcycle gloves are a kind of definition is mainly used for driving a motorcycle gloves, motorcycle racing in particular is the use of gloves. Motorcycle gloves, material stress, style complex, anti-friction and the function of strong impact. Leather motorcycle gloves, which typically use high imitation leather, anti-friction and joint spaces plus the impact of high-quality foam, if necessary, back of the hand still needs to maintain pieces of carbon fiber.
Motorcycle gloves, gloves and other sports, like all industries are labor-intensive products, because of its complex shape and function, so a lot of procedures need to be completed. The manufacturing process is generally cut - sewing - finishing package, of which the most complex sewing process. Because of its high use of high-grade leather or imitation leather, which beat and adding a lot of anti-friction material, so the sewing is very cumbersome, cost is very high. New features of Alpinestars SP-1

The main difference I have noticed with the Alpinestars motorcycle gloves is with the finish. Incidentally these gloves are also marketed as Alpinestars gloves just in case you were wondering they are the same thing! So the finish, compared to the Alpinestars gloves or Alpinestars GP Tech gloves the finish is a bit cheap. You may find that there are long threads hanging or the leather has not quite been cut to the fit you would expect. I guess Alpinestars can get away with it since its been marketed as a mid range glove. If you can live with the inferior finish then there is no reason not to buy these gloves. They will provide you with an excellent level of protection and come at a fantastic price. The cheapest I have seen the Alpinestars SP1 gloves are about $100 and its a great bargain at that price.

Alpinestars gloves are also on the market. You’ll also find them listed as Alpinestars SP-2 gloves and are very similar to the SP1 model but are even cheaper.

The SP-1 range also come in Alpinestars gloves Stella SP-1 format which is directed completely at the female market. It’s touted as having a cut specifically to fit a ladies hand and so it will fit much better.

Alpinestars SP-1 Gloves

Most of the Alpinestars gloves I have looked at so far have been pretty much at the top of the range. I hope I haven’t scared anyone off with the cost of these gloves. There are so called mid ranged biking gloves out there if that’s what you’re after. I know not everyone has $300 to spend on a pair of gloves so if you’re looking for that Alpinestars quality but your budget doesn’t quite stretch that far how about going for the Alpinestars gloves? They are aimed at general road use, you won’t catch any of the big named MotoGP stars using them but then hey how many of us are going to get to that level? Not me I know that much! Don’t let the ‘mid-range’ tag full you into thinking that you’re buying an inferior product though. They are stunning looking gloves and will provide you with an exceptionally high level of protection no matter what type of vehicle you’re on.

The Alpinestars motorcycle gloves are constructed from leather and the thickness of the leather varies from point to point on the gloves. Obviously the areas which require most protection have the thickest area of leather. Kevlar is also present which acts as additional abrasion resistance for that top quality protection. The knuckles are made up of carbon fiber and carbon fiber sliders are also present and correct on the fingers. As standard on the Alpinestars gloves these days is the ventilation holes to let a little air in to your hands for those long summer rides. These are present on the fingers and the wrist area. The wrist gauntlet is also rather familiar as it is the standard dual Velcro closure. The fit of these gloves is excellent and comes in various different sizes so you should find a pair to suit your needs. It is possible to get small Alpinestars gloves as I know this is a common query especially with the Alpinestars Alloy Gloves.

Scorpion Helmets in Hollywood

Dean McDermott, co-star of the Tori & Dean show featured on the Oxygen Channel, isn't your average Hollywood TV celebrity. He's as much a Scorpion motorcycle helmets enthusiast as the rest of us. He's been riding bikes since the ripe age of 12 and recently got the urge to take to the race track. So 'Scorpion USA' hooked him up with a full-custom race suit and helmets to get the job done. He now has his WERA racing license and has been chiseling his knee-dragging skills ever since. He's getting faster and part of that process is tossing the bike along the way. He's walked away from 2 crashes. One at low speed and another at over 100mph when the front end pushed out. Take a journey through Dean's trials and tribulations in trying to balance family and his need for speed by browsing through the below video's and tune in to the new season of "Tori & Dean - Home Sweet Hollywood" on the Oxygen Channel.

Scorpion Urban Destroyer Helmet

(Lake Forest, CA May 17, 2010) - It is survival of the fittest in the urban jungle, so Scorpion Helmets has decided to cry havoc and let slip with the latest Scorpion EXO-1000 helmet  protection system: The Urban Destroyer! Designed to keep streetfighters cool no matter how hot the action gets this summer, the Destroyer jacket starts with a vented poly mesh shell, bolstered by fully ventilated CE-approved body armor at the elbows and shoulders.
The poly mesh shell also gets ballistic nylon panels in the high impact areas for when you are in a tight scrape, not to mention the fact that the Urban Destroyer also has your back, literally. There is a full-length back protector compartment, complete with a P.E. foam pad in place. Internally, a lightweight perforated liner makes for maximum air flow.
Additional refinements include two generous hand warmer pockets as well as an interior storage pocket. Reflective trim has been incorporated on the arms and back of the jacket for improved nighttime visibility. Dual waist-adjustment snaps and Velcro® arm adjustment tabs help keep the jacket or sleeves from flapping at triple digit speeds. The Urban Destroyer jacket comes in a basic black, bright blue or vivid red, ranging in size from S up through XXL.
Capping things off are the matching scorpion-exo-400 Urban Destroyer helmets. Featuring an advanced polycarbonate composite construction, the shell's aero-tuned design has been wind-tunnel tested to ensure things stay quiet inside when all hell is breaking loose outside. The SpeedShift® quick-change shield system makes for simple, tool-less faceshield changes in less than 10 seconds. Speaking of shields,  Scorpion Helmets optically correct faceshields are treated with anti-scratch hardened coating and the exclusive EverClear® no-fog technology. Although the destroyed urban environment graphics look killer, these lids will not lay waste to your wallet as the EXO-400 retails for right around $159.95.

Scorpion EXO-1000's

The <a href="http://x-ck.com/products/scorpion-exo-1000-air-bug-matte-black" title="ScorpionEXO-1000's">ScorpionEXO-1000's</a> clear face shield uses the <a href="http://www.x-ck.com/categories/scorpion-exo-1000-air" title="scorpion-exo-1000 ">scorpion-exo-1000 </a>quick release system, which is a round dial that allows the face shield to be easily removed but is a bit fussy to replace. The face shield has an interesting bend at the very top and it's notched to fit under the brow vent.

It's a complex mold and, unfortunately, ours has a problem on the left-hand side, where it doesn't come close to sealing around the gasket surrounding the eye port opening. It starts with about a 1/8" gap on the left and doesn't touch the eye port gasket until almost half-way across the face of the <a href="http://www.x-ck.com/blogs/scorpion-exo-1000-helmet" title="Scorpion EXO-1000 helmet">Scorpion EXO-1000 helmet</a>.

This may be an issue only with our example, but prospective owners may want to closely inspect the seal between the face shield and the eye port gasket before committing greenbacks. Not that this is a deal-killer, but it's a surprising faux pas and, I think, may be partly responsible for the elevated noise levels we found.

The face shield has another unfortunate trait that we also experienced on the HJC FS-10; it only has 4 detents to hold it open, and the first is nearly half-way up. There is a lever on the left-hand side that cracks the face shield open just a touch; the lever also acts as a face shield lock, but it's fussy to use and the face shield must be fully opened and slammed home to seal (or as close as it gets to sealing) if the lever is used.

Score: I'll rate the face shield clarity, operation and visibility as "Acceptable", which drops to a "Poor" considering the sealing problem, which may be an issue with our <a href="http://www.x-ck.com/categories/scorpion-helmets" title="Scorpion Helmets">Scorpion Helmets</a> only.

Motorcycle Gloves Review Tips & Checks
        How to Review Motorcycle Gloves?
Gloves are your best remedy against road rash.So please get yourself some easy protection.
This Glove Guide shows you how to select quality Gloves plus you will find links to motorcycle apparel discounts, glove brands & motorcycle directories.

      Motorcycle Gloves Introduction

      Motorcycle summer gloves

Summer gloves are often no more that thin leather gloves without a lining and hardly any water resistance. It's best to consider having gloves made of leather as it's the safest (for example cycling gloves would be shredded in the event of a fall).
      Motorcycle fingerless gloves

There are two types, with and without fingers. (without might be comfy but you're not driving a car) If you ride in extreme sunny/hot conditions perforations in your gloves (for cooling) can give you a nasty sunburn.
      Motorcycle medium weight gloves

(racing gloves / summer gloves)
Medium weight is between summer and winter gloves and most riders have these. Some are lined, some aren't. These days they have special protection areas and are really comfortable. You can get them in all sorts and styles.
      Motorcycle winter gloves

Much thicker than medium weight gloves. Really made to keep your hands warm during colder weather. They will often have to handle rain too (just make sure they can, otherwise they are worthless).
      Motorcycle rain gloves
Often no more than a plastic covering to keep the rain out. I'm not such a fan of them. They can get slippery on the controls, get bulky and I don't like glove over glove. However rain gloves are often quite cheap and easy to carry along.

Scorpion Helmets--Supported Riders

A selection of riders that are supported by Scorpion Helmets.

Dean McDermott - Scorpion Supported Rider

  Hometown: Canada

Background: I was raised in Canada where I grew up riding all types of motorcycles since the age of 16. My first bike was a 1973 Honda scorpion-exo-400 Super Sport. I loved that bike so much, and I thought I was "The Man" on it. After a few mentions of always wanting a Ducati (hint hint), my beautiful and thoughtful wife, decided to rent me a Ducati 1098 for Fathers Day so I could enjoy some fun filled California cruising and canyon riding. Little did she know, she had created a monster. Soon after, I became friends with a fellow motorcycle Scorpion Helmets, who also had a love for motorcycles. He invited me out for a track day with Fastrack Riders. After I completed my first few laps, and got my novice riders certificate, I was hooked. Since then I have taken my obsession of motorcycles and love of racing to the next level. I decided to get my WERA race license in early 2009. Now I am fortunate to have several sponsors for the 2010 WERA race season, and a very understanding and supportive wife. It’s good to be me.

Welcome to Alpinestars Gloves

Welcome to Alpinestars Gloves

Alpinestars gloves are everywhere these days. If you watch Formula One, Motocross or NASCAR you’ll see that the majority of the drivers use these Alpinestars gloves due to their comfort and technical safety they offer. It might be interested for you to know that the company takes its name from the English translation of the Italian word “stelle alpine” which strangely enough means “Alpine Stars” in English. Useless or useful fact of the day you can decide! I first came across when I got my first bike and I managed to negotiate an old pair of Alpinestars gloves in with the cost of the bike. I fell in love with them that day and it’s the only brand I’d ever consider using when on my bike. The other reason I love them along with the comfort and safely value is because of how cool they look. Some of the designs are simply beautiful. Alpinestars have developed a fashion line aimed at both me and women for all there sporting needs. It’s more a sports lifestyle thing these days but with a functional purpose.

My understanding is that the Scorpion helmets is the replacement for the Quantum II. My last two Scorpion helmets have been the Arai Quantum II, and after 800+ miles, the scorpion-exo-700 has been a superior fit for me. It hugs the contours in my face better, and fits around my chin more securely. Plus, it's quiet and comfortable.

For those "reviewers" who are saying the cheek pads are too tight, mark across forehead, etc. , I would say, maybe the scorpion-exo-900 is not the correct helmet for your head and face shape.

Finding a good helmet that fits is more "art" than science; there is no good or bad helmet, there is the helmet that fits YOU:) Find THAT hel

First, I have to say, dealing with Revzilla was a real pleasure. Package arrived in 1 week exactly even though i'm in the middle east at the moment. The Scorpion exo-1000 is everything i expected in terms of quality and I like the fact that it does not have an overly exaggerated venting system like the GP. I must admit that even though I watch all the clips on you tube on changing the visor, that it was still a very tedious affair and at one point I thought I recked it when the side panel popped off during one of my attempts. The one the worked for me was changing the visor with the helmet on. Don't know why, it just did on my first attempt. Overall, i think its the wholesale helmets and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Scorpion EXO-1000 helmet

As I said, the Scorpion EXO 1000 Helmet is absolutely chocked with features. First and foremost is the long-hyped HelmetPump design that had the buzz for this helmet going well before its release. Beyond that, you've got the trio of Scorpion features: the SpeedShift quick-change shield system, allowing you to swap out shields without tools in ten seconds or less; the EverClear fog-free faceshield with a scratch resistant coating; and the KwikWick antimicrobial removable washable moisture-wicking liner. The ventilation system is fully adjustable and will keep your head nice and cool (couple with the moisture-wicking liner) at long distance rides.

One of the newest motorcycle helmet offerings from Scorpion, the Scorpion EXO-1000 helmet continues their trend of packing a ton of next-level features into a reasonably-priced premium helmet. Easy open/close vents are located at the brow, the chin, and the top of the head with a large open/close exhaust vent at the back of the head for venturi effect airflow. This is without question a premium touring helmet. It's also DOT & Snell certified. The EXO1000 is designed to be ridden in the upright position for long distances, and will flow a great deal of air, making it a great premium touring motorcycle helmet option.

Everyone remembers those shoes from the 80s and 90s that you could pump up for a perfect custom fit. They've integrated that technology into the helmet and it works spectacularly: the cheek pads and neckroll inflate for a snug fit, and at the end of the ride a release button deflates for easy on/off. The next biggie on this helmet is the retractable internal sun visor system. The SpeedView Visor, as Scorpion calls it, eliminates the need to change shields when the sun comes out or fumble for a pair of sunglasses.

Alpinestars makes

Alpinestars makes a LOT of different gear for motorcycle riders and racers. In fact, they also make a large selection of leather and textile gloves. But we are going to review only ALPINESTARS “LEATHER” MOTORCYCLE GLOVES.
Alpinestars leather motorcycle gloves contain short gloves, for street riding, touring or everyday commuting, as well as 3/4 gloves, which are a compromise between the longest sports gloves and their short gloves.
Some of their short gloves feature perforated leather for maximum air-flow, as well as abrasion-resistant palms, which, combined together, offer excellent warm-weather performance.
For Alpinestars top-of-the-line leather gloves, you'll see their full-length, full protection, sport/racing gloves, which feature superior knuckle protection, precurved fingers (for better fit and tactile feel), along with their very best leather protec

Alpinestars motorcycle gloves--Gore-Tex

Alpinestars motorcycle gloves--Gore-Tex
Alpinestars has you ready for any weather without sacrificing feel at the bars when you're wearing their waterproof 365 Drystar gloves. The breathable Gore-Tex X-Trafit membrane located under the outer leather chassis makes them an excellent choice for sunny weather as well - hence the 365 moniker. That's because Gore-Tex's X-Trafit liners permit the construction of a close-fitting glove that exhibits excellent tactile feel yet, is durable enough to withstand the rigors of the road-going rider. In other words, the 365 Gore-Tex glove's waterproof and breathable construction doesn't make your hands feel like they're surrounded by a garbage bag just to keep you dry. Except for a slightly thicker feel on top of the glove, the 365' isn't much different than other Alpinestars motorcycle gloves. The knuckles are covered by a solid PU protector and additional EVA padding is sewn into the leather above the fingers and on the thumb. The palm has an additional layer of synthetic suede attached in critical areas to impart extra abrasion resistance and Alpinestars uses their patented 3rd & 4th finger bridge to prevent painful finger damage in a crash. A long gauntlet makes sealing these waterproof gloves over your jacket's sleeves easy, further aiding their bad weather usefulness. All of this is available in a leather motorcycle glove that provides excellent dexterity and safety.
